Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new collection titled ‘Rendez-vous’ is a truly unique blend of modern art and engineering. It manages to connect classic aesthetics and assortment of other ingredients like Métiers Rares (Rare Handcrafts) which bring their own particular touch of grace. For its most recent creations, Jaeger-LeCoultre has chosen to explore the theme of ivy. An Interesting choice they made that may leave some wondering why choose Ivy?
Ivy is quite a unique plant that holds a lot of symbolism, from its use in art and romance for its hardiness in the face of adversity, to its use historically as an emblem of loyalty. It is no coincidence that the symbolism of Ivy permeates with authority as for the longest time Ivy was used on the coat of arms of royalty and those in power. It is no wonder that Ivy was chosen for this collection especially for its involvement in almost every art movement we know today.
Less than a year after the launch of the Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater, Jaeger-LeCoultre latest creation, the tourbillon displays the high-level mechanics of its mobile carriage. It rotates once a minute, thus compensating for variations in rate due to gravity, whatever the position of the wrist. The watch is emphasised by a row of diamonds forming a delicate diadem. The ivy motif appears to surge from the tourbillon to bloom on the dial, thus playing a key role in the stage-setting of the watch face. It is also built for comfort as its 39 mm diameter ensures a pleasant feel on the wrist.
There is an additional surprise to this collection called the ‘Rendez-vous Ivy Secret.’ The slightly domed exterior is covered entirely in diamonds with different cuts to outline the shape of a flower. There are 304 diamonds adorning the Rendez-Vous Ivy Secret, in order to magnify the sparkle of these gems, this makes wearing the watch an experience itself, crafted for both luxury and comfort. Rendez-vous Ivy Secret is a model dedicated to imbuing women with a truly radiant glow.
As its name suggests, there is more than meets the eye to the Ivy secret. The cover of the watch half opens to allow a glimpse of the time on the dial. Here we find the design codes of the Rendez-Vous line, including the elongated Arabic numerals alternating with chatons on the shimmering mother-of-pearl surface. The ivy leaves are engraved and painted, creating a realistic and yet delightfully poetic result. The ivy is ‘frozen’ beneath the watch crystal in a silent fresco over which time has no hold.
The case of this all white gold model is engraved on the side with an elegant stylised motif. The bracelet, which is slightly rigid to ensure a perfect hold on the wrist, this allows it to clasp itself to the skin in a firm yet gentle embrace that will remain indelibly engraved in the memory.
Currently available worldwide, this collection will be coming to the Middle East towards the end of the year.
